If you have a love for high fashion but don’t love the high prices, you’ve come to the right place. Esther’s has been dressing Omaha’s fashion-savvy women for nearly 40 years with apparel from the best closets in town as well as from around the country.
Esther’s Women’s Designer Consignment started in the home of Esther Lonergan in 1969 as a way to share designer clothing from her sister Adelle, a model in New York who worked for designer Bill Blass. As word spread about Esther’s secret cache, Esther’s friends began to bring their friends and soon there was a steady stream of women knocking on her door.
As the designer consignment concept began to catch on, other women began bringing Esther their gently worn designer clothing to sell. Esther’s own style and eye for fashion combined with her friendly rapport and customer service helped drive the store’s early success. Eventually Esther’s homespun business grew too large for her home so she moved the business to its current location at 805 1/2 S. 75th St. (1/2 block north of Pacific St.) in the mid 1980s.
Her daughter Trish joined her along the way. Working with her mother, Trish gained an appreciation for fine clothing and style, which she passes along to her customers. Trish continues the tradition started by her mother who passed away in 2008. Today, the store enjoys a dedicated clientele who call the store the “best kept secret in town.”
Many of Esther’s staff have backgrounds in the fashion industry, allowing them to offer a wealth of experience and great fashion sense to your overall shopping experience.
